Learning Styles I utilize training in various learning styles to motivate students to learn through participation.
Example: Leave No Trace Trainer Certified - a nationwide program recognized not only for the environmental benefits, but also for its recommendations to design lessons beyond reading capability, to bring audio, visual, tactile, and kinesthetic learners along.
Lesson Plans I implement existing lesson plans and, when necessary, develop my own lesson plans.
Example: Informative Presentations - lectures and hands-on interactive activities for public schools and nonprofit organizations; at times implicit points are dictated; at other times, the entire presentation is open to personal creativity tempered by discretion.
Assignments I devise, assign, administer, grade, and record appropriate assignments, tests, and homework.
Example: Park Orchard Elementary - classroom volunteer creating corresponding materials for this and other teaching positions to enhance learning for individual students’ needs to meet the guidelines of lesson plans and district, state, and federal requirements.
Versatility I model correct use of the English language in a variety of classroom topics and settings.
Example: Informal Tutoring (children & adults) - assisting learners, including special needs and ESL students, in studying various subjects, in thousands of lessons, in multiple settings across the United States in California, Oregon, Massachusetts, Missouri, Rhode Island, Utah, and Washington states.
Timing I begin and end on time, yet prepare to attend extra-curricular functions outside of normal instruction time.
Example: Granger School District Drama Teacher for R.A.P. (recreational afterschool program) - for this, and every assignment, learning is enhanced when instruction is presented in a timely fashion, including lessons in after school programs.
Policies I supervise and maintain a safe, positive learning environment at all times for students, staff, and facilities.
Example: “Safe Haven” - a concept implemented in all teaching, past and present, but quantitatively defined as:
“Everyone in a group is responsible to defend the feeling of a ‘Safe Haven’ in all aspects of communication and activities.”
Reporting I am familiar with policies that require injury, accident, illness, and rule violation reports.
Example: B.S.A. Scout Camp - attend and follow strict guidelines taught in The Boys Scouts of America training sessions on protecting youth and adults on land and water; as well as how to officially report incidents that may occur to parents and proper authorities as appropriate.
Parental Involvement I develop a plan for and initiate parent-teacher interactions.
Example: Orientation- setting up individual and group meetings to welcome parents to programs in an attitude of gratefully sharing in their responsibility to teach their children; leaving a positive impression for future follow-up as desirable by either party.
